REAL Left-handers
Return to fictional
left-handers
While there are a number of websites that compile lists of famous left-handed
people, they can hardly be considered to conform to an evidentiary standard
(e.g. here
here
here), although
most websites do try to maintain accuracy.
This list is of famous people where I have fairly conclusive *evidence* for
their handness. Of course, famous to me might not be famous to you.
I have two categories - primary and secondary.
Primary is people
who have stated they are left-handed, via some medium that has reached me
directly, with no intermediate steps (so, in the case of websites, only the
website they maintain counts) - and of course, people I've seen writing (or
other action) left-handed
Secondary is people who's left-handedness has reached me second hand, via
one person (anything more doesn't make the grade). For logical reasons,
I'm especially interested in authors.
| Person | Occupation | Evidence |
| Roy Bailey | Folk singer | Direct observation - he signed a CD for me |
| Colin Thompson | Author/Illustrator | So stated on personal website |
| Kevin Buzzard | Mathematician - Not exactly world famous, but he deserves to be. Makes maths especially enjoyable | Direct observation - I have seen him lecturing twice. |
| L E Modesitt, Jr | Author | So stated in discussion on the IBDoF |
| Diana Wynne Jones | Author | Here - although she doesn't maintain the website, the text was written by her. - and there is Cat Chant in her books |
| Person | Occupation | Evidence |
| Alan Garner | Author | see here - although I'll not accept that without documentary or testimony |
| Meg Cabot | Author | see here - but not w/out documentary or more research on the iviewing |
| Richard Hatch | Author (Battlestar Galactica novels) | see photo here |
Also, I think the dude who plays Giles in Buffy is left-handed.
